Our themes of traditional rural life and the topic of photography are connected in a compelling manner. Our visitors can experience many historical insights in our house that would not be possible without photography. Each picture tells a story, gives its own perspective on events, shows what the photographer wanted to present. The everyday life of the local population could thus be captured and preserved and made accessible to anyone.
Central to our “cinema hall” is the estate of Josef Rauch, who was a teacher in Kaprun in the early 20th century. His passion for photography and his desire to capture the everyday happenings in our village left us with a comprehensive collection of exciting and unique photographs. Old cinema seating invites guests to view them at their leisure.
In addition, we provide information about the development of photography and film in general, as well as in the region. A prominent highlight is the mobile silent film projector, which brought the cinema to the people and toured from village to village through the Pinzgau.
Other historical silent film projectors can be found in our collection curated by Anton Aberger. This also includes slide projectors, motion-picture cameras and photo cameras. The latter illustrate technical innovations and specialisations that were developed in the course of the 20th century.
