Mission Statement

SUSTAINABLE PRESERVATION

The Kaprun Museum and the VSF Kaprun are committed to preserving and communicating the historical and cultural heritage of Kaprun and the region. We are committed to the ethical guidelines laid down by ICOM (International Council of Museums) Austria. The museum’s work focuses on rural life, folk culture and customs, the historical development of tourism, the construction of the Glockner-Kaprun power station group and historical photography. We research, document and pass on the history of Kaprun and make it accessible and tangible for the general public.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO:

We ensure that the exhibits and information in the museum are presented authentically and in their historical context.

We promote ongoing research into regional history and culture. Through exhibitions, guided tours and educational programmes, we enable visitors to engage with the history of the region.

We are committed to preserving the objects in our collection to the highest museum and conservation standards in order to ensure their long-term survival.

We endeavour to make the museum accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background or physical limitations. Accessibility is an important concern for us. Where this is not possible due to the building structures, we endeavour to provide access via digital media (360° tour and audio content in planning).

We seek co-operation with other institutions, both at regional and international level. Through networking, we strengthen the visibility and significance of the museum.

We use contemporary methods of museum presentation to optimise the visitor experience and highlight the relevance of historical content for today’s generations.

With this mission statement, the Kaprun Museum and the VSF Kaprun emphasise their responsibility to preserve the cultural heritage of the region and make it accessible to future generations.
