Opening special exhibition

On August 13, 2025, the new special exhibition “Pfarre Anno 2025” was officially opened in glorious summer weather. After welcoming remarks by museum director Manuel Scherer-Windisch, Mayor Domenik David, and parish council chairman Gerald Wiener, accompanied on guitar, the opening took place in the historic Machlhütte.

On the initiative of VSF Kaprun chairman Hans Jäger, a commemorative publication marking the parish’s anniversary year had already been published. The VSF Kaprun also made possible the special exhibition, which is a central highlight of the anniversary program.

The exhibition marks a special anniversary: exactly 400 years ago, in 1625, Kaprun received its own permanent pastor for the first time after more than two centuries as a branch church of Piesendorf. The establishment of a vicariate marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of today’s parish – an important milestone in the development of the town.

The exhibition, which can be seen at the Kaprun Museum until March 31, 2026, not only highlights the development of the church, but also shows the close connection between the parish and social and cultural life in Kaprun – then as now.
