DENK-MAL BY MANFRED REISENHOFER

Wayside shrines and memorial plaques, wayside crosses and weather crosses, works of art and statues of saints – Kaprun has many more interesting objects that are closely linked to the history of the village, its inhabitants and guests. It is thanks to the Kaprun resident and lover of nature Manfred Reisenhofer that knowledge about these small monuments has not been lost. The memories that are still visible today have been recorded in this work in pictures and writing.

ILLUSTRATED BOOK I "JOSEF RAUCH"

Head teacher Rauch, who worked in Kaprun in the 1920s and 1930s, was an outstanding photographic pioneer of his time. He left behind around 900 glass negatives with unique historical photographs, which the Kaprun Museum has painstakingly digitised, sorted and supplemented with descriptive texts.

On 224 pages, almost 500 photos show a cross-section of Josef Rauch’s photographic legacy. The volume, which was compiled by Doris Junger and Michael Fazokas, is supplemented by an interesting biography of the multi-talented Josef Rauch.

ILLUSTRATED BOOK II "ELEKTRIZITÄT IM KAPRUNER TAL"

From mountaineering village to world-famous tourist resort. The construction of the power station between 1938 and 1955 laid the foundation for the development of tourism in Kaprun. This is still a defining theme for Kaprun today.

After volume I “Josef Rauch”, the present work is the second illustrated book in a trilogy of historical illustrated books planned by the VSF Kaprun and the Kaprun Museum. A large number of previously largely unpublished historical photographs have been retrieved from the Verbund archives and digitised. The hundred-year history of electricity is thus documented in picture form on 292 pages.
